函館市街地から車で約１時間。函館市南東部にある恵山の登山はかなりおすすめ！
活火山ゆえに木々が少ないため見晴らしがよく、噴気が上がる火口や無数の奇岩が目の前に広がる。
山頂からは眼下に太平洋と日本海の境界線を望み、下北半島の山影のほか、なんと函館市街地にある五稜郭タワーまで遠望できる。
